Not less than 80% dodge extra income tax
September 12, 2001

BELGRADE, September 12 (Beta) - 80% of taxpayers liable under the one-time extra income tax deny their obligation, said Republican Internal Revenue Service director Aleksandar Radovic on Wednesday, September 12.

"Some 20% have agreed to pay, even in the full amount of GDM16 million," Radovic said at the session of the Serbian National Assembly Finance Committee.

The Republican Internal Revenue Service has received 948 voluntary income tax returns, half of which are incomplete. The revenue service itself has made 1,653 decisions on enforcement of the tax.

GDM1.3 million has been collected so far, said Radovic and voiced hope that a further GDM20 million would be collected in September, and after that a steady flow 30 million per month.

Some GDM250 million is expected to be collected by spring 2002, Radovic said.
