EIB grants a €45 million credit for road infrastructure

Belgrade, September 11 (Beta) - "The European Investment Bank will grant Serbia a €45 million credit for renovating road infrastructure", Serbian Minister of Transport and Telecommunications Marija Raseta-Vukosavljevic announced.

According to Raseta-Vukosavljevic, the credit agreement is likely to be signed by November 15th.

"The Serbian government has set aside DIN4.7 billion for transport infrastructure this year", Raseta-Vukosavljevic said, adding that DIN2.5 million will be used for renovation of roads, repair and construction, while the rest of the funds are intended for maintenance.

"Projects worth $444.8 million are currently underway on expressways and major roads, while DIN414 million has been allocated for current works on trunk roads. From January to July, construction worth DIN116.7 million has been completed", Raseta-Vukosavljevic said.

According to the Minister, the government will decide on granting concessions for road construction only after relevant studies have been made.

"The current volume of transport points to a potential for construction of a Belgrade-Novi Sad road", Raseta-Vukosavljevic said.
