Djindjic, Archbishop Christodoulos and Patriarch Pavle
Belgrade, September 10 (Beta) - The Serb Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic received today the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop Christodoulos, and Serbian Patriarch Pavle.

According to a statement issued by the Serb government, the talks were attended by the Serbian Religion Minister Vojislav Milovanovic and members of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

Archbishop Christodoulos congratulated Djindjic on the return of religious instruction to public schools and expressed support and admiration on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Church at the efforts toward completion of St Sava Cathedral in Vracar.

The Greek Orthodox Church delegation made a substantial donation to the Serbian Orthodox Church towards the completion of the project.

Archbishop Christodoulos also supported draft laws proposed by the Serbian government, particularly relating to the recovery of church property.

Djindjic thanked the Greek delegation on assistance provided so far and pointed out the importance of completing the construction of St Sava Cathedral, as a symbol of the national and cultural unity of the Serbian people.

A joint resolution was reached stating that the political and economic revival of society would not be possible without an accompanying ethical and moral rebirth.
