Elections would bring no clear winner
September 07, 2001

BELGRADE, September 7 - The Alternative Research Center's poll of 1,638 respondents showed that if elections were called in Serbia today, they would bring no clear winner.

The poll showed that the DOS coalition, in its present form, would win the votes of almost half of the electorate, that opposition parties would not be able to pick up votes from more than one-seventh, and that two fifths of voters would not even go to the polls.

Additionally, research on the parties' individual ratings showed that no party could rule on its own.

According to the poll, half of Serbia's citizens think that it is not necessary to call early elections, but if they are indeed called, they should be held in the spring. 21% think elections should be called now and 29% do not know.
