Following numerous questions addressed to the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) after this announcement was made public, the Information Service of the Serbian Interior Ministry stated:
- The dinar equivalent of DM300,000 will be rewarded to any person who provides information leading to the arrest of those who committed or ordered the criminal acts mentioned in the announcement.
- Persons who present evidence will remain anonymous and will be protected from retribution. Therefore, it is irrelevant whether the informant is an active or retired police officer or a civilian, nor will there be any questioning as to why such information had not been reported earlier, as it is understood that there was fear based on a well-grounded suspicion that some members of MUP were involved in these acts.
- The reward will be also be granted to the ones who committed or participated in the criminal acts, and their confession will affect the final sentencing verdict.
- The reward money is not drawn from the MUP budget, but rather is provided by donations from organisations concerned with the fight against organised crime in Serbia. The donors of the reward will cover all tax liability. The organisations financing the reward wish to remain anonymous, but payment will be supervised by legal organs.
- The criminal acts listed were chosen in order that those responsible for a number of other crimes should also be revealed to the police.
- The Ministry will not disclose any information on individuals who call the published telephone number.
