Energy Ministry Develops Energy-Saving Projects

Belgrade, August 15 (Beta) - The US Alliance to Save Energy (ASE), the Serbian Mining and Energy Ministry and the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) launched a campaign for selling insulating tapes on credit to the biggest electric power consumers, a press release from the EPS says.

The EPS Electricity Distribution Department Assistant Director Nenad Mrakovic told the news conference that consumers using more than 1,000kWh per month had been given leaflets specifying ways of purchasing insulating tapes to be paid in 5 monthly installments.

The ASE donation enables the selling of insulating tapes on credit to 60,000 consumers. The price of the tape will be YUD 4 per metre.

The Serbian Mining and Energy Ministry is developing a package of energy-saving measures for the coming winter, announced Milovan Studovic, a Ministry official.

The energy-saving package comprises the following measures: power plants are to increase power supply by 10%; insulation of walls and doors in households; household switch to gas heating systems, where possible; abolishing taxes and rebates on coal and wood heating.
