Belgrade, August 7 - "Kosovo Liberation Army aims to carry out open terrorist attacks and other provocations in order to keep tensions high in this area, and we can expect this trend to continue in the upcoming period", Serbian Assistant Interior Minister Goran Petrovic told a press conference on Monday.

The head of the Serbian State Security Service also confirmed on Monday that the apartment of Serbian Renewal Movement leader Vuk Draskovic had been tapped.

"Draskovic's apartment and the Serbian Renewal Movement offices were bugged. After Draskovic asked the Serbian Interior Ministry to investigate the matter, we searched the offices and found these devices", the head of the Serbian State Security Service said, accusing Draskovic of using the case for his media promotion and ungrounded accusations against that police department.

Draskovic told a Belgrade media that he had not agreed to leave the offices at police request since that was an opportunity for the police to remove old and place new bugging devices.

"The Serbian Renewal Movement leader said that we wanted to place new bugging devices and used our good will for his personal promotion", Petrovic concluded.

"Members of the Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, which was only formally disbanded, are responsible for the death of policemen in the village of Muhovac. Macedonian terrorist organization National Liberation Army attempted to claim the responsibility for their death with the aim of covering up the real perpetrators of this terrorist act. I am convinced that the Liberation Army of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja is behind this crime", stressed Petrovic, who is also head of the Serbian State Security Service.

Commenting on Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Nebojsa Covic's statement that police in southern Serbia became less cautious, Petrovic said: "It is obvious that the police relaxed a bit". However, he would not comment on whether this was in line with police service rules.
