Unfounded accusations of corruption in the Serbian government
July 24, 2001

BELGRADE, July 24 - At Tuesday's session, the Serbian government described the statements made by representatives of the Democratic Party of Serbia that "corruption exists in certain Serbian ministries" as irresponsible and immature.

"Recently it has become normal to make objections to the work of the Serbian government without presenting concrete evidence, even without specifying the name of the ministry the objections refer to. The Serbian government points out that corruption is a criminal act. Everyone who has proof of corruption, and does not present it to the authorities, is an accomplice to the act, " the statement says.

It also stresses that it expects the representatives of political parties who have objections to the work of the government to present the evidence.

"The government will thoroughly examine each fact or evidence and take the appropriate measures against those who are responsible," the statement says.
