Batic urges exhumation at Suva Reka
July 20, 2001

Belgrade, July 20 - Following the information issued to the media by the head of the UNMIK Bureau for the missing persons, Monique Finberg, touching the mass grave discovered at Suva Reka, containing some 900 bodies believed to be of Serb, i.e. non-Albanian ethnicity, the Serbian Justice Minister Vladan Batic demanded from the head of the UNMIK Hans Haekkerup to start exhumation without further delay.

In his note Batic insists that the Serbian government officials and forensics experts be present at the exhumation, autopsy and identification of the victims. It is specifically stated that this case could be one of the most convincing proofs of atrocities committed against the Serb and other non-Albanian population.
