European Union urges America to participate in Donor's Conference
June 27, 2001

VIENNA, June 27 (Beta) - Chairman of the EU Council of Ministers and Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh urged the U.S. to participate in the forthcoming Donor's Conference for Yugoslavia.

"Yugoslavia has made an effort to meet the demands of the international community concerning cooperation with The Hague tribunal and it is a very important decision made by the Yugoslav government. For that reason we support the holding of the Donor's Conference. We expect all important participants to take part in the conference and thus to contribute to a favorable outcome of the conference," Lindh said at a press conference in Vienna.

After speaking to the OSCE Permanent Council, Lindh utterly denied the possibility of changing the boundaries in the Balkans.

Lindh also pointed out that the EU supports an "autonomous" Montenegro within a democratic FRY, and the UN SC Resolution 1244 on Kosovo.
