HUNDRED DAYS OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA GOVERNMENT
May 11, 2001

WE PLAN...

  • We shall recover sovereignty in the remaining 395 square kilometres of the Ground Safety Zone.
  • An integral reform of the judiciary which implies adoption of the Law on judges and improvement of the financial standing of all court employees.
  • Reform of criminal legislation in the framework of which a new Criminal code shall be passed.
  • Fight against corruption which implies dismissing from public service all corrupted servants, passing of the Anti-corruption law, Law on public procurements and other regulations that shall enable our country to stop being one of the most corrupted countries in the world.
  • Institution of the Ombudsman, a popular lawyer to whom all citizens complaining of violated human rights could appeal
  • A full reform of the state administration which implies cutting down bureaucracy by one fifth, its modernisation and turning into a citizens' public service
  • Disbursement of all debts left behind by the former authorities. We have started with paying off these debts primarily in the sphere of social welfare and old savings.
  • Settlement of inter-firms' claims and debts shall be one of our most important tasks in the next period, as a precondition for production reviving.
  • Denationalisation which we regard one of the most important obligations of the new authorities in order to rectify the injustice to numerous citizens of this country, whose property had been seized out of ideological and political reasons.
  • A full revitalisation of the agriculture which we regard one of the future most important branches of the economy of Serbia. Although already in the first hundred days the government has taken many measures to support surviving of the agriculture, we regard that in the next period we must ensure conditions for the agriculture to progress again after ten years of decline.
  • Decentralisation of the State, regionalization of Serbia and expansion of self-government in the extent that shall enable our society's development in line with the European standards, through law and Constitution amendments.
  • A full termination of the smuggling. Although smuggling has been suppressed, it has not been completely terminated.
  • A vision of the Serbia economy in the medium-term (2001-2003) and long-term (by 2010) periods, that shall clearly express our priorities.
