Yugoslavia treasury of folk architecture
April 18, 2001

Sirogojno, April 18 (Tanjug) - Yugoslavia is a treasury of richness and diversities, sources and influences which crossed in the Balkans during the past centuries, which left the deepest traces in the field of folk architecture, it was said Wednesday on a symposium in the "Staro Selo" museum in the village of Sirogojno, dedicated to the World Cultural Assets Protection Day.

"Staro Selo" museum is so far the only protected monumental unit of folk architecture in the world. Director of the Sirogojno museum, Zorica Ivkovic said that " each region in our country deserves to have its own " open museum", which will be possible only when the state starts acting as a protector of the folk architecture."
