BECEJ (YUGOSLAVIA) - OLYMPIAKOS (GREECE) 9-8 (2-2, 3-1, 2-2, 2-3). Attendance: 1,200. Referees: Zoran Tomic (Croatia) and Aleksandar Galkin (Russia). Goals in man up: BECEJ 2 (7), Olympiakos 5 (9). Scorers for Becej: Sapic (3), Molnar (2), Ciric, Pekovic, Uskokovic and Vasovic (1 goal all). Scorers for Olympiakos: Chatzitheodorou (3), Djogas, Psychos (2 goals both) and Thomakos (1). Becej, YUGOSLAVIA, February 25 - It was supposed to be a one-sided match, but it became a thriller. The home team just gained a narrow victory after a hard and long fight. The defeding champion is now the clear leader of the Red Group with three victories in three matches. The first quarter ended with a 2-2 draw, and Olympiakos was leading two times. In the second quarter two goals for Becej scored by Branko Pekovic and Aleksandar Ciric brought the score to 5-3, but even the first lead by two goals was no decision in favour of the home team. The Greek champion kept in touch with the favourite, although the team was 5-7 behind before the final quarter. And Olympiakos started a comeback in the last seven minutes. Croatian Teo Djogas and Greek international Giorgos Psychos scored within 65 seconds to equalise (7-7). But now Becej stroke back with two goals scored within 70 seconds by Aleksandar Sapic and Veljko Uskokovic to bring the score to 9-7.
