Mihajlovic's comeback September 29, 2000
National coach Ilija Petkovic said the Lazio veteran had reversed a decision to quit international football in the wake of their 6-1 thrashing by the Netherlands at Euro 2000. Yugoslavia face home matches against group one rivals Russia on October 7 and the Faroe Islands four days later. "The game with Russia is an extremely important one for us...we managed to break a longstanding inferiority complex with Russia when we beat them 1-0 in St Petersburg," Petkovic told a news conference. The only uncapped player in the squad is third-choice goalkeeper Zarko Lucic. Squad Goalkeepers: Zeljko Cicovic (Las Palmas) Aleksandar Kocic (Red Star Belgrade), Zarko Lucic (Buducnost Podgorica).
