MATARUSKA BANJA
Mataruska Banja is a spa situated in the central part of Serbia, near
Kraljevo, about 180 km from Belgrade, at the altitude of 205 m.a.s.l. The
local climate is a temperate continental. Its thermal mineral waters coming
from several springs rank among waters with the highest sulphur content in
the world. They also contain sodium bicarbonate, potassium, calcium,
magnesium, silicone dioxide, free carbonic acid, free sulphur hydride,
aluminium oxide and radioactive elements. The temperature of these waters
ranges fom 28 to 50 degrees C. They are drunk and bathed in for
therapeutical purposes and used for the preparation of mud packs. The spa
also has an indoor swimming pool.
MEDICAL INDICATIONS: The spa is recommended for the treatment of:
inflammatory rheumatism, rheumatic fever, rheumatoid arthritis, Reiter's
syndrome, Sjoegren's disease, Felty's syndrome, snodylitis, diseases of the
connective tissue, degenerative rheumatism, periarticular fibrositis,
chronic diseases of the genital organs, hormonal disorders, skin diseases,
post-traumatic conditions, angiopathy.
EXCURSION: to the monasteries of Zica, Studenica and Ljubostinja (13th
and 14th century), the town of Kraljevo, Vrnjacka Banja spa and the Goc
mountain.
