BUKOVICKA BANJA
Bukovicka Banja forms part of the picturesque town of Arandjelovac, in
central Serbia's Sumadija region. The region is characterised by its range
of mountains, whose slopes are covered by orchards and vineyards. The spa
lies at the altitude of 270 m.a.s.l., at the foot of Mount Bukulja. It is 66
km from Belgrade.
There are quite a number of springs there with mineral and thermal
mineral waters. The 'Knjaz Milos' is the best known bottled mineral water
supplied by the spa. The temperature of the water at the spring is normaly
12 degrees C but the warmest springs has a temperature of 28 degrees C. The
water is drunk and bathed in for therapeutic purposes. It belongs to the
group of sodium bicarbonate acid waters with an agreeable taste. The 'Knjaz
Milos' waters have won 'Grand Prix' awards in Brussels and London.
MEDICAL INDICATIONS: The spa is recommended for the treatment of catarrh,
gastric and duodenal ulcer, inflammation of urinary ducts and the bladder,
sand in urinary canals, chronic rheumatic ailments, post-traumatic
conditions, neuroses, disorders of peripheral nerves, gynaecological
diseases, hormonal disturbances, diabetes, diseases of the gallbladder and
bile ducts and of the liver.
Arandjelovac and its surroundings are a good place for excursions (Mt.
Bukulja and Mt.Vencac, the historic towns of Topola and Kragujevac). One of
Bukovicka Banja's main attractions is a permanent exhibition of the
sculptures made by artists from all over the world during the annual summer
'Marble and Sound' festivals.
